PhotoHunt: Plastic

The PhotoHunt theme this week is "Plastic"

As I'm sure you'll see in the various Hunt posts, Plastic surrounds us - is part of us - every day and in every way. Plastic bags, plastic kitchen tools, plastic surgical replacement parts for our bodies, even our cars are generally made more of plastic than of metal, these days.

I could show you my Plastic birdbaths or Plastic bird feeder. Dull.

So instead, here is a photo of the Plastic that I'm betting most of us have in common. Probably one of the most utilized bits of Plastic in the world. A useful tool and the bane of many's existence; a source of hope and of dread, all at the same time:

Happy weekend, all!

And for those of us in the US, have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! Please take a moment to remember those who put their bodies in harm's way for us. As I have said so many times in the past, while I'm not so wild about this war, I am for those brave men and women who go where ever and whenever with their own best intentions to serve us. If you have a moment this weekend, please send a birthday card to one such soul who at this moment is feeling unloved and forgotten in Texas. Here is the link to my post at Flamingo Musings on the subject (you may have received an e-mail to the same effect from elsewhere). It is absolutely true and has been verified.

I wish I could have my very own credit card. Then I could buy all the toys I wanted.

Happy Memorial Day to you! I sent a birthday card to Sgt. Thornhill and it made me feel real good. I sure hope he has a happy birthday. We can't help everybuddy, but we can all do a little something for someone!

A great take on the theme. The cards were the only plastic I could think of. I think you use more plastic in the US???

I have just returned to my computer chair, after running from my computer, screaming like a little girl at your photo for this weeks entry!! OMG I so hate my plastic cards, but I just cant stop using them, they are so pretty and flashy, especially under the florescent lights at the check out counters! Thanks for the jolt and the little "run" I had! lol..My hunt is up, please come and visit

My mother always told me not to bring home anything I couldn't afford to feed... Men, stray animals, or credit cards...

Mine is up!

it's the plastic that we have to be responsible when using otherwise it will control us instead of us controlling it!

Plastic -- something I used a lot of in the US (though, unlike many others, I preferred debit to credit cards) but hardly use in Hong Kong where I feel safe to carry quite large amounts of cash about!

an excellent choice and almost a synonym for PLASTIC in US. I paid all mine off in 2002 and cut them up.

I thought about these as well.
You can use "plastic" as an adjective as well... a young mind is plastic, pliable. I am anxious to see how everyone pictured the theme this week.

And this plastic... now they have passed the "protection" for consumers... but, if you keep current with your "plastic" bills and don't let the balances ride and pay it all off each month... in other words, if you do the right thing......the plastic companies will charge you more user fees and such. Now we will penalize those who pay their balances on time... crazy times!

Thanks for stopping by.

Your picture reminds me of a funny story. My friend had a new baby so she sent her husband (very intelligent, but kind of the village idiot when it came to everyday things) to the grocery store to pick up some stuff. When the checker asked if he wanted paper or plastic, he looked at her like she was crazy and replied: "Cash."

And you know... you can't even use foreign plastic in a pay machine outside in the US gas station anymore either.... technology has it's limits...

Happy memorial day and thanks for reminding us all what memorial day is about.

I mentioned those cards in my post today but didn't picture them. I didn't even want to look at them. :)
