Eastern Grey Squirrel

"Yes, we are - most Thankful!"

Red-Masked Parakeets

"Me, too!"

Female Northern Cardinal

I'm Thankful to be able to live our household motto: "No one leaves our home hungry"

Okay, maybe the occasional hawk... :-) Happy Weekend!

SkyWatch & Friday's Feathers: Hummingbird

I can't help myself. I've combined my SkyWatch and my Friday's Feathers post. Again.

Today's Friday's Feathers belong to a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird taking a break between hits at the feeder:

Oh, yeah - and get a load of that sky!

PhotoHunt: Warm

The PhotoHunt theme this week is "Warm"

Okay, I was planning to save this one for my other blog under the category of "Walking Fashion Statement", but then I thought you might enjoy seeing how some South Floridians stay warm when the wind chill goes down to, oh, I dunno, 79 degrees?

Don't you love the boots?

For the nature-lovers, I give you the flock of migrating Turkey Vultures warming themselves on the roof of the old Dade County Courthouse in downtown Miami:

You guys in the chilly Northlands look for the first Robin to herald Spring - We look for the first Vulture on the Courthouse roof to herald Winter and a promise of heat and humidity going down to tolerable levels! Click on this one for a better view of sunbathing Vultures...:-)

Have a great weekend!

SkyWatch & Friday's Feathers: American Kestrel

or, "Fruit & Feathers II"

Once again, I've combined my SkyWatch and my Friday's Feathers post.

Today's Friday's Feathers belong to the American Kestrel:

Another fine South Florida February morning during last weekend's Great Backyard Bird Count.

I'm suffering "mango envy". This is my next-door neighbor's tree. Mine has about half as much fruit and half the size. Waaaah.

Happy Weekend!
